OK this is my first posted image so be gentle, but firm on the c&c .
Things I see:
1.Some wierd blown out highlights (no soft shoulder). This may be from the HDRI reflection I used. I'll mess with that. Any other ideas where it might be from?
2. Would be nice to get a more increasingly blurred (on a curve) reflection on the counter. Suggestions on how?
3. Some wierd color artifact above the "toast" text. I dunno but I think it may be that same reflection map prob.
4. More DOF? and blur background?
You C&Cs are much appreciated
Also I'd like to make smoke coming out of the top of the toaster. Would you guys use hypervoxels or photoshop it? suggestions?
Basically the joke is, what if M$ were in every aspect of our lives? So when the mstoaster xp crashes, you get burnt toast.
Any other ideas to get this theme across?
Thanks much all,
Carbon
Hey, this is hot.
Has it in-built DRM, Palladium, a Fritz-Chip & TCPA ?
So copying my Toast-Settings would be impossible :D
And whats the text in the window? Is it an error message? :p

Yeah error message. XP's version of the blue screen.
I'd like to make that text more visible without zooming in.
I can see quite a few Jaggies, espcially around the area where it hits the background.
I'll stick to my fire for now though!

hi there!
for the computer nerds here (or am i the only one?): the win XP bug report is clearly visible ;) if you're conna make an animation with this one i would say: particels / hypervoxels for smoke effect

Yeah i've had this theme in mind for alot of things.
Here are some more places it would be bad.
The computers at the Nuclear detection monitoring center.
Or in an elevator.
Or in just about anything that flies and lands.
Or on your TV.
Or on your mp3 player or cell phone.
Or in your car.
Well you get the idea.

Actually that is not a BSoD That is Windows XP way of handling a potential BSoD. It is a crash box, an Error Handler to safely close the application that causes the problem with sacrificing the OS and causing a complete system reboot.
If you want to have a true BSoD use the Stop Errors [blue background, white text, errors usually in hex]. You usually see these when something major happens. To catch it durring a crash you would have to set the settings in windows to do a complete memory dump. Looks just like the win 2k stop error messages.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I really like the toast idea, but I just want this one under my belt. Also I just photoshoped some smoke in since there will be no anim. I took too long tweeking this one and I'm gunna go ahead and call it "good enough"
What do you think? ok for my first posted image?
Thanks for the feedback,
Carbon

What did you end up doing that got rid of the sharp highlights along the shoulder and the slot for the control lever? It looks much better. I also noticed that most of the "jaggies" got cleaned up in this latest version. Did you figure out where they were coming from?

Ralph,
Yeah they were actually from the HDRI reflection (spherical) map I was using. I used the same image minus the HD info by saving it down as a bmp and using that. The toaster is actually lit by a separate HDR image (beach_probe) . I like beach probe's even light, but not it's boring reflections, so I mixed it up.

I guess this one very cool picture in every aspect. Very fine modeling even greater texturing and what makes me love this image is the funny idea behind it.
Great job.
