bitmap to 3d object

I used to use a program with the Amiga called pixel 3d
I could convert a busniness card logo a (BitMap) to a 3d object and use it in Lightwave

How do I do that with Lightwave 7.5? I have searched the forums and have not found a beginners section any advice.

You trace it in Illustrator or whatever, import the AI fuile and extrude it.
