View Full Version : Video noise?

I need to produce video noise and interference for a section of an animation I'm working on. For example, a character talking on a screen with a poor connection, so there it interference and such over the image (lines, that sort of thing), then the signal gets jammed, so that all that is there is just noise.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can simulate this? I was thinking of using procedurals for the noise at the end, but I am not too sure how to produce the interference on the poor signal part.
Any thoughts? has anyone done anything like this?

I'd simply create an image sequence in After Effects or another compositing package. It could be done in LW but with tons of surface layers that all need to be animated it wouldn't be very comfortable.

You could also just create a sequence if images in photoshop if you don't have after effects. Use the add noise filter and save say about 10 of them with different amounts. Then import them in to lightwave as an image sequence. In compositing put that image in the forground bit and change the dissoble as much as you want to fade it out. Its not the best but it might do the job you are looking for,
