View Full Version : Audio Poping

I did a voice over on a video through the capture panel with a handheld mic and dropped it in TED. It sounded quiet and when I raised the audio slider some, it started to pop. Even when I backed it off so that the level meters did not show any red, it did it still. It would only stop popping after I lowered the sliders to the original position. Is the hardware very sensitive to the sound level or is it my method. I did try a different mic and still the same results. Any ideas?

Try this:

Before you adjust the audio level of that clip, make sure the Toaster OUT slider is all the way to the top, then adjust the audio level.

Paul, this audio level situation has been talk about pleanty of times on this forum and I would like to know from you if NewTek is addressing this issue. Even with the Toaster Out slider all the way up, the level you capture is not the level you get on playback and if you raise the level of the clip after capture you get this pop sound that he mentioned.

Yes....what about that Paul. I have seen several users claiming this is an intentional design by Newtek, but I give you guys more credit than that since this is not a very professional way to handle audio. I am of the understanding that this is being worked on and will be corrected. There's plenty on record in this forum about the recorded audio level issue. Computer/CD/etc. sources don't have this problem.

I don't believe there's any intention for this audio disparity to remain, and our programmers continue working on this.

Paul,

I did as you recommended and my output is already up all the way. I see that this has been addressed before. Let me ask the question again. Is this Toaster or computer related or is it a combination of both? What would be a good work around for a situation like this. I know one thing, since I put it into only one mono track, I will try to duplicate the mono signal into the other side to double the signal which will help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
