hi,
I want to make "white flashes" between some statements.
but how? is there a light (spot) I can use with keyframes or how does it work?
1 frame full white - 1 frame half white!

Don't have an answer....but this was one of those great effects on the old Amiga Toaster, the light flash growing in from the center or in from the four corners. Gotta love the old Toasty days!

Maybe insert like 1 or 2 full frames of white (or off white, maybe with a slight tint of blue to it). You can create this with the backgrround generator and save out say 1 sec. and then play with it??

Or go to the Downloads section of the ToasterSupport.com (http://www.toastersupport.com/pages/dve_april.htm) site and get the "Dip To White" DVE. Play with the duration of the effect until you get what you want. You need to register to download, but it's free and painless.

The best look for a flash of white light is to have a straight cut between two clips with no effects. Click on the first clip then hit "W" to go to the end of the clip then hit left arrow & shift to go back 5 frames. Go into to color corrector and hit key frame for brightness, then hit "W" to go to the end of the clip or 5 frames forward which is the very last frame of the clip and turn up brightness all the way up with a key frame. On the second clip of video hit "Q" to be at the first frame of the clip and key frame brighness all the way up. Hit shift right arrow to go forward five frames and set key frame back to normal brightness. You can make these flashes of white light any length but 5 frames on each clip works well.

Good luck,

Something I like to do is using Lighwaves lens flares---put the light in the middle of the frame or were you want the light to grow. Then from the light options panel turn off the lens refelection and streaks. Then give the flare the color you want and then evelope the intensity to increase and decrease as fast as you want. Works great for me.

and where can I find the "Lighwaves lens flares"?
this is what I also know and used from fcp system - setting a light.

First you need to load up Lightwave Express from the Toasters drop down menu. If you have never used Lightwave before go through some of the early chapters of the manual to learn how to move things around and set key frames. But once lightwave is loaded up press shift L--- This selects the light next press the t key this will allow you to move the light were you want---you my want to switch to a different veiw bby pressing 1-6 on the numeric pad. After you have it were you want press the y key this lets you rotate the light make sure that it is pointing at the camera. after all that press the enter key twice. This sets a key frame for the lights posistion at what ever frame you are on. THen with the light still selected press the p key this open up the light property panel. There you will see the lens flare option. Hope this isnt to much explanation for you. If you dont know lightwave it really is worth learning. Just take the manual out and you could learn in no time at all.
