I was wondering if anyone has both vegas and VT4.5 on the same machine.

I have tried to keep everything off the VT machine to stay away from problems but maybe I can put them both on the same machine and save on the number of computer stations I am using.

I have had both VT3, Vegas 4/5 and CD Architect 1/2 on two different PCs at the same time and have had absolutely no problem. Vegas is one of the most "well behaved" programs that I have come accross.

Glad to know there are other users who prefer Vegas over VT-Edit. I love VT for live production, but after using Vegas for 5 years, I find VT-Edit pretty unfriendly. Ok - save the flames all you VT-Edit lovers! :)

I've been playing with Vegas on my friend's dual-Xeon 3.6GHz system, which should be powerful enough for ANYTHING...

I'm frankly disappointed with the lower preview quality even with something like just a dissolve, when you look at it coming out the firewire port live...

This is why if leaving VT-Edit, I see myself going to EDIUS, which feels much more real-time, like VT-Edit, to me than Vegas does. EDIUS always outputs full quality in real-time.

Thanks for the comments.
I will be going to NAB this year to decide on a HDV and HDCAM system.
Right Now Final Cut Pro is still on the top of the list if not just because there is such a large customer base out there of editors and off line systems.
The Down side is needing a Mac platform.

Dont know much about Edious. Finding Avid still a possiblity as well.

Wish Newtek was going to deliver something. I have never found an interface I like as much as VT.

Word on the street is you might want to make sure and swing/stop by/camp out at the Newtek booth Sunday.

no, not the Newtek booth...the show floor is closed.
You WILL, however, want to stop by a still-undisclosed location Sunday evening.

Stay tuned! :newtek:
