Is there a way to import a text file that contains X, Y, and Z point coordinates into Modeler? We want to create a "cloud" model based on a simple text file containing the coordinates of thousands of points.

Do you really need to use a particular set of points, as described? Or do you just need a bunch of point to base your cloud on. You can create a pretty decent 'cloudfull' of points using "Random Points", which in LWExpress is under the "Primitives " button. Or you can use "Spray Points" ... in either case, running some jitter over it will mess it up (randomize it) pretty well.
Having said all that, it really doesn't take too many points to make a cloud using Hypervoxels.

Yes, we have files with specific x, y, and z coordinates that we want to model. The "cloud" is actually a debris cloud.

Well, since .LWO files are basically ascii text (I think), it's probably possible - but a bit outside my knowledge. It can't be too different from working with .DEM files I would think, and there are approaches to that. You might try repeating the post in the LightWave forums, where there are guys a lot more conversant with LW's tools than I am. Sorry...

Sorry, I thought I was in the Lightwave forum. There's something called RapidDXF (www.cadopolis.com) that appears to do what we need. Thanks for your input.
