View Full Version : DVE's from static images in DDR

I regularly setup lower 1/3's in a DDR, with images I made in Photoshop. I leave that DDR on "selection" rather than project.... and manually advance from slide to slide. I take a slide, and bring up the DSK, then fade off the DSK and setup the next slide.

When I have a 2-part slide, how do I use a DVE?

If I put a dissolve in between the two slides, I can't find a way to transition. If I click on the dissolve, it just sits on that "selection". If I put the DDR on "Project", well it works great, but I cannot manually time it... I would have to know exactly how long I wanted part 1 of the slide up and set that duration.

What am I missing? There's gotta be a way! I hate not having a transition, because then I just click on part 2 and it cuts. YUCK!

Thx.

You can't use DVEs on Alpha overlays.

PLease explain why? It works fine when I do and set it to play project... it's just the timing that kills me. Why do you say I cannot?

Jamie,
Set your part 1 still length to match your dissolve time plus one frame. Clip length matters not a wit for stills. Yes, set to project. Bring to air as you have been doing. When you are ready to transition to part 2, click the "k" key. When the transition completes, click "k" again. Viola.

Jamie,

I have done this. You have to be on project. Then depending if your slide is static or not you would go two different routes.

If static, use two clips of the same "source" then DVE then second clip. With this setup you can start with what you want, when your ready to proceed, double click on the second "source" that will transition to the DVE and second slide.... then it should sit there until you fade dsk.

If yours are not static, then timing is the best answer. for multpile 1/3's I use static or disolve to disolve to bring in the second page.

Thanks for the tips. I will try both Nes & Randy's suggestions. Randy - I'll talk with you more - a little confused on exactly how to do it your way.

BTW - my screens are 14'.
