layer refuses to show, Dot under eye turned on

I have a layer in an object that just refuses to load or show itself in layout, even after multiple quits, and making sure I have the black dot turned on under the Eye in layers palette in Modeler.

I Save, Synch to layout, quit all, make sure the lwhub startup stuff is trashed, etc. and can't get the layer to show up in layout.

all other elements in my object DO show up, and in Modeler, I can see what Layout doesn't.

Is this a matter of quitting and relaunching over and over 50 times, or is there something else you can do to slap some sense into Layout?

OK..this is wierd...

I may have 'discovered' a fix for the problem I posted...

Kept on tinkering with the file, and got the brainstorm of cutting the layer, then pasting it back...I did so, into another, unused layer, saved, synchronized, switched to layout, and lo and behold, that layer now shows up.
