Character design...What next?

I have created a character drawing, front and side, inside and out, skin and bone. I have the backdrop lined up, positioned, and saved. What next? I created models of characters before, but I am having trouble getting started on this one- I want it to be complete and perfect and just as I've drawn it with good flowing grid lines. Where can I learn more about getting started? Are there any really good DVD tutorials out there? Any free web tutorials? Can anyone recomend a good place to start for me?

One method I use is to model with splines. They make a great layout tool and take up very little screen real estate. Check out this thread.
