I have been using lightwave for about 2 months now and here is a backdrop I am currently working on ( I did this over the weekend).....The textures do not have the best resolution....but I needed to save some render times and load times.....It is the backdrop for a claymation that I will be doing in my media arts class (gr 11).......It will be a demon emerging from the alley and than getting shot up by a soldier.......
I am going to blue screen the demon and soldier than compose them into the backdrop......Im still not done.....I have to texture the planks, dumpster and fence...plus make the sky different and set up lighting.....crits and comments are welcome...

thats the link.....
also if anyone has any ghood ideas on how to blue screen the demon and the soldier while still keeping their shadow....it would be appreciated.....or even how to make a fake shadow for them.....

uh, why don't you print out your textures, paste them on some boxes and then do your claymation there. Bluescreening? Honestly, that sounds like a ridiculoulsy complicated way to do what you're doing.

nah I like it....I did it before and it turned out good...this way I have much more control over the environment and it wont look like the background is a bunch of boxes with textures glued on.....also, I could add more effects and stuff like that......and I like lightwave so I try to use it every chance I get......I want to practice composing stuff together and I figured this would be a fairly good chance to do so.

You could do your compositing in after effects. Make the layers 3d and apply lighting effects to create shadows. Compositing 101.

They are different software with different applications. niether is better. You should not buy anything. You need to look at your pic to realise why no one has crited it. (some boxes with LW content textures)
p.s. I also think you should glue textures to shoe boxes. lol.

ouch....that hurt.....
sorry its not proffesional quality like all your work....... I did it over the weekend and lightwave textures??? I dont thinks o....they are UV maps....I took the texture pics with my digi camera and than did it in photo shop.......nothing in that picture is preset.....thanks for the inspiration......maybe you can tell me to go kill myself while your at it??
Im sure that in 1 1/2 months of using lightwave you could make picture perfect renders?
well anyways thanks for not commenting and just making me feel like **** :) Im in gr 11 and this is for a media arts class...not a world premiere of a movie, It is low poly because I have a due date fairly soon.....
and I do need a composing package either way so that is why I asked which is better.......(which is for what and other information)
anyways if anyone out their can give me some constructive crits or comments that would be appreciated....
also it is in the WIP section for a reason....

I don't want to see anything thank you all the same. But you would have had to be using the LW content textures as a reference to get your photos to look exactly like them in photoshop. Why not just use the content?

hold on......are you saying I used the brick presets or what?
I unno exactly what u measn by LW content...I am assuming you are saying I used the texture presets.......anyways the brick texture I photographed at a school and the stone brick one was just a really old house........please be more specific as I am not 100% sure what you are trying to say......
I attached the UV map of the brick texture for the left building......
yeah its notthat great because I dont have much time....The claymation is due this week....

*Sigh* just posting the final image of what im going to use for the backdrop of my claymation....jus reminding you guys that it is low poly so i get fast renders.
I appreciate the honesty uberslayer, but c'mon, ease up a bit....Im a noob and i'm not that good at lightwave yet (as you can see)....Everyone starts somewhere....
Im not going for a composition or anything...I just threw the background in there so it wasnt black....
