hey guys, i just finished my 1st 3d animation using lightwave3d.
took the whole semester to do right over 1:30 minute of animation. Render times were averaging 34 minutes a frame on most the scenes.
There are many things I need to change with this but overall I think it turned out pretty good.
Let me know what you think.
Enjoy. Oh btw this is titled "The Lament Configuration" because I'm a huge Hellraiser fan. For those of you that know what that is maybe you will appreciate this, for those that don't go rent the movies!
Here's a test render before animation began.

Not bad but of course I do have some critiques.:)
First of all, lots of blank space in there not to mention titles. It's kind of annoying to watch a 3 minute video clip and have just over a minute of actual animation. I think you went way overboard on the title work. First there was 30 seconds of the station id tone. That was about 20 seconds too long. Then there was a confusing 10 seconds of blank screen ( I thought my media player had frozen) Then you let the title sit for another 10 seconds. Then there was the clock countdown. Then a title. And another one, and another one. (see what I'm getting at?). Finally at one minute 35 seconds, the animation starts. The video clip is almost at this point half over. Then another 25 seconds of titles at the end. So unless I figured wrong, the video clip is almost 3 minutes in length and 2 minutes of that is titles and blank space.
I don't mean that to sound harsh at all godmachine, I'm just letting you know what I thought as a viewer. It will put others off since it is such a large download, but that's not really a factor for me with a cable modem.
The actual animation part is ok. I mean, it could use some refinment, the walk cycle is a little floaty and doesn't have weight but it's easily read. The chains should really have more impact and you should have them really pull apart him apart instead of just hooking into a still body. The blood is a little cheesy but I know that's not an easy look to achieve. I understood what was happening and from a viewer standpoint, that's all that really matters.

yeah i understand what your saying and thanks for the reply!
the 30 sec test pattern, 10 sec between, 10 sec slate(title), then countdown leader, 5 sec blank to title (where the actual thing begins is quite annoying, but i guess i should clarify why its like that. not by choice i can assure.
my professor forced us to do this as good practice to adhere to professional video setup. i guess i should just edit all that crap out and put the actual animation up. i'll do that now for download sake.
i appreciate the comments!
