Hello Im relativly new to Lightwave 8. Ive bought plenty of DVD tutorials and even a comprehensive book by Dan Ablan and yet I still seem to be having trouble importing a Model In Lightwave. I created an interior of a Hotel Room using Sketchup 5, complete with textures. However when I export the file to Lightwave, The Model appears but not the Textures. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong. It would be aterrible shame having to re-do all those textures. Especially with the layout that lightwave uses. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

What file format are you using? For example dxf does not support textures. If you can 3ds or obj would be the better choice. What formats does sketchup support? perhaps someone could think of a work around for a different format.

Well I used Sketchup to add all the textures and exported it as an OBJ. But when Lightwave opens the object, no textures are applied. Do I need a plug-in, or is a setting wrong?

LightWave does not read the MTL (materials) file which contains material properties and texture file names for the OBJ file.

If an MTL file was exported with the OBJ file, you can try the free plugin mentioned in this thread
http://vbulletin.newtek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31
to read the texture file names from the MTL file.

For clarification the thread is http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?t=43330 The mtl importer seams to work ok for me. Any problems with the importer, you can post at that thread or email Dodgy, his email is listed in that thread.
