Hello all,
I started this model with inspire some time ago, I got the chance to reworked it in LW...how does it look. The last time I posted this the wings were abit square but lw made it easier to round them out. still need to get to surfacing but want to tweak it abit more before that

Here is a shot of the engine... this could use some touching up, but I cant seem to find the time...Of course this is only a quarter of the original wasp engine but this is about all that is seen from behind the props

I started on the engine this morning, I figure if I was ever going to finish this plane I should stop procrastinating...
Any suggestions as how I should apply a look to this keeping in mind that for the most part it will be hidden. But should the look be a rebuilt corsair or a vintage right out of the pacific theater version.

Hey I like it:D
I remember seeing it in the old inspire thread. The wings look better, Those curves can be a pain. Your engine detail is great, especially for how little of it shows.
The only thing that catches my eye is the wheels. I think they should be a little bit bigger maybe?
Anyway, keep posting. I'm working on bump maps for mine at the moment.

I thought I would just update the post, I decided with a little urging and some inspiration from hunter to do a over haul on the plane.... here are some updates... still alittle stuck on the bumps though....
Hunter how did you get the bumps to look like plating...

Hey,
Looks good. I think your bump maps are coming along fine. One thing I did was to make them at 600 dpi to get fine lines to show up. The other is to go here:
http://www.lwg3d.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=155
and take a look at the texturing WWII aircraft. It explains it quiite well.
I usually put my images together in photoshop as 1 image and post that.
Keep it up!

My first attemp at the bump I had 72 ppi then I re made the bump at 1200 ppi and still can't get it any finer than that, I will keep at it though, till it looks as good as yours :D
