Hi !

This is my first serious attempt at modelling a car... have some major detail work in front of me...

does anyone know of a tutorial for creating the tires..

this is just a testrend....

I think I saw a tire tute on newteks old forums let me see if I can find it

Dan Ablans new site www.3dgarage.com has a very detailed multi module tutorial for a tire and rim to show a sampling of what would be learned in his courses.

Hi again !!

I checked out those tuts - they were great...

here is a minor upgrade of the car... just cleaning up the model for bumps and stuff...

Dude seriously this is awesome for first serious attempt.
work on smoothing out the edges on the hood of the model and you will have a serious machine there..., I want to drive that thing...:D

I like this model, you seem to have captured the car design quite well although I recall it as being more boxy and angular. The door/panel seams seem a little OTT also. Both of these problems maybe down to your slicing for a sub-div model. Create a slice closer to the panel seams to reduce the bevelling effect and to flatten the panel modelling closer to the design. The door needs resolving too as it looks detached from it's window and frame. The wheels look great and the engine vents and side pods work well. Go the whole 9 yards and build the interior, it is a ragtop after all ( hardtop variation is a cheat :p ).
