I know that many of you are using TMPGe encoder and I am tring to figure out how.
The standard for RTV is now 486i and TMPGE wants 480 for MPEG 2 ecodes.
You folks must know the trick.
I sure hope it is not re-rendering at 480. I dont have enough hard drive space for that. THis is a big project.

Ed, see my reply to this question on the "strobing effect" (http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=29596#post29596) thread.

Or to answer here:

The RTV plug-in to TMPGEnc will properly handle 480 or 486 line RTVs.

Personally, I don't care if the "default" is 486i in T[2]. I use 480i for everything.

Only problem with 480i is that you cant import it in Aura and do things to the clips and export what you have done without a
stobey problem.
So I went back to capturing in 486.

Ah, good point, yeah, I forgot about that Aura problem.

I hate to bring this up again, buin fairness t Aura really doesn't have a problem with 480 files - at least not the way some think. I have gone over this closely, and it's quite clear to me that T[2] build 3890 is simply NOT capturing 480i RTV's, no matter what it says. Initially, when I talked to Andrew about it he was sure it was, but last time we corresponded on the subject he was looking into it.

Again, there are things about Aura's field handling that could be imporved, but I've gone over imagery in and out of it pixel by pixel many times trying to get to the bottom of the matter and never been able to fault it.

Oh... Well, I've NEVER seen Toaster's file properties actually show 480 lines as the size of any RTVs I capture with 3890, so as Steve says, it's probably really the Toaster suite more than Aura itself... Last time I had mentioned this to Andrew he was sure it was working at 480 lines, but that was a while ago.

Of course, being that Aura is part of the bundled suite...

I still dont know why TMPGE will handle 480 and not 486.
Can someone tell me where to download the latest RTV plug in so I can see if I have the latest version of that.

THanks.
