I just had One of my SCSI drives fail on my toaster 2, sent them to the manufacture, they replaced the drives but said the data was corupt so now I have lots of room once again!
my question is how is the best way to get the content (DVE's mainly) on my video drive again? Are these on the latest upgrade, or only on the mean green beta force discs or the toaster 1 content disks, and can I reload them without reloading everything (the programs are on my C drive) Could there be anything else that would have been on the video drive I need to reload or do to get back on the move? any other suggestions as to how to prevent or prepare for this if it should ever happen again (had alot of stuff - got lots of room and work ahead of me now)
Thanks
Jim

The DVEs install totally separately from the VT programs and related stuff that's on the two Program discs. Use the VT[2] Content discs, starting with Content CD1, there are five of them I believe. Don't remember if there were any additions made from BetaForce discs to the VT[2] distribution discs, but I'd go with the latter. FWIW, I keep the DVEs on my IDE "Program" drive (D:\ in my case) and have never had any problems running them from there; I need all the space I have on my video sets for project material and I figure a drive is more likely to fail on the video set as they have for me and did for you.

Shortly after we began shipping, we reduced that to 4 Content CD's, Scott.

Ok, but the content disks I got with my toaster say Version 1.0 ©1999 NewTek. so I was thinking that this might be old and not even Toaster 2 stuff? My Beta Force discs say VT[2] © 2001 NewTek.

If you have DVE's in your VT[2], then you had to (at some point) have had the Content discs.

Not if your system was configured during the beta phase and your dealer only sent you the latest build of software as in my case initially.

thats what happened, was set up at the retailer and the only other time I had problems it was still under their warranty and they took care of it. the only thing I got was a set of beta force disks and what looks like a toaster 1 set (I don't know that because I've never seen any thing but a toaster two) its a pretty newtek video toaster case with the VT logo on the front and inside are 4 disks; a blue one witch says PROGRAMS and 3 yellow disks that say CONTENT and all 4 say ©1999 NewTek but the program disk also says version 1.0. then I have 6 Beta Force disks that say VT[2]. and a stack of home burnt, two day long blood-sweatin' 56k dial-up downloaded updates back to something like build 2880.

5 of those would be your DVEs.

looks like that is getting it done, guess I should have slipped one of these mean green disks in and had a look, I just figured they where out dated being beta disks.
thanks again
