hi
I've been asked by one of my students to make a snooker table as a project in the video tutorial for lightwave, he's a profesional snooker player currently placed in at 95 in the world ranking table.

so here's my in progress snooker table from what i remember about the look of it from t.v a week or so back [i've never played snooker nor really follow it!]

not made the pockets yet and the lower half of the table n legs will be redone at some point, but for an introduction to lightwave cdrom video it looks okay so far...

Hi cresshead,

When you redo the legs add an extra pair. Asnooker table has 8 legs!

Good luck

ahh! well spotted! thanks i didn't know that...the book i got from the library today only had a few photos in it showing the table and most were from above! which make it hard to figure out what the legs look like n how many!!!

cheers for that information..i'm also looking for a decent pic of what a pocket looks like...

Looking very nice to me...

One suggestion - the lighting from above the table is normally VERY strong compared with light from the rest of the room - the rendered strong side lighting is a real no-no.

In my experience, only when there are TV cameras present is anything well lit apart from the table.

Cheers,
Nick

And from my wasted days in the snooker hall, I'd say don't try to model all the 'furniture' for he table, most of it usually went missing, or got broke ;)

Also, tables aren't normally that "deep", the side cladding seems excessive. The pocket rails are also quite thick and padded on a normal club table.
