View Full Version : HDV to VT3 (or 4 or 4.5)???

If we are shooting footage with a Sony HVR-Z1U in HD 16x9 and we are ready to capture that footage into VT for editing, what are our options?

If we play back the tape from the cam into BOB or VT directly, what are we going to see? Black bars top and bottom? Left and right sides cut off from the 16x9 image? Or a squished picture?

I know the final output has to be in SD (for now), but what are the options for editing HDV?

Ken, I think the Z1U gives you the option of capturing HDV as SD with any of those three options

You can record in SD, or record in HDV and down-convert to standard resolution during firewire capture
