Spyder2 is a calibration unit that attaches to the monitor for around $150 I beleive the same company carries a pantone detection unit (not sure on the real name) It will scan the color on the paper and tell you the closest color match. So theoretically you could specify a pantone color, print it, and use this device to see how close of a match you have. The problem is the conversion from cmyk to pantone. I have not heard of a cmyk device yet. Odds are they exist, but I have not heard of any.
