....here we go...
1. Individual tracks for audio and video (V1, V2, V3...A1, A2, A3...etc.) with the option to turn layers on and off in the timeline?
3. Use of In and Out points in the timeline to specify an area in which to lay a new piece of video (in other words - three point editing).
4. A Source and Record Windows options to trim our source footage before it's placed in a sequence and also have a playback window dedicated to the timeline (DONE!! MEDIASIGs Trim Skin!!!)
9. The ability to define where the audio and video of a piece of footage goes in the timeline (again..this would work well with the individual Video and Audio Tracks)
I REALLY....REALLY ....would like to see these as options in TED in the very near future. I say options because it seems many here like the way TeD works and I'm not trying to upset the apple cart.
....I've got more...but this is enough for now.
Thanks,
Greg

I know MediaSig posted this a long time ago. I appreciate his new Ted trim skin!!! But to get a reply (not attack) from the community, I decided to bring it back for discussion.
A lot has changed since Mediasigs first post (back in 2003, I think). But the items I qouted from him are still relavent to me. I love VT etc... but some projects would definitely benefit from bein g able to do a few of these things. I currently use subprojects and a few other workarounds to keep things sort of organized. It can be a pain when you have 3 video tracks with sound, multiple overlay CGs, a music bed and a V/O to deal with and you need to make change.
A lot of these features basically lend themselves to EDL lists or Window burn tapes given to clients that want to make changes based on TimeCode
Here are my questions since I don't have a VT handy to check right now--
1. when you separate audio from video, is the only way to move them both and retain frame accuracy to highlight and drag?? you can understand how this could make things crazy!!!
2. is NT looking into the way that the tracks interact. Right now they dont make sense. (1 video track takes up track 1a and 1b)
3. A real way to lock thing down on the timeline. maybe have a pop up say
"this clip is locked, are you sure you want to move it?)
