Hi,
I'm making an animated video for a local band call The Punk Group (www.thepunkgroup.com (http://www.thepunkgroup.com)).

I've completed modeling and rigging the main character and am working on the set now. Here's a link to some renders of the set. The lighting is definately temporary and the modeling is not quite done yet either. Anyway, check it out at:
http://www.sad-world.com/germany/set.htm

I posted the character renders already, but in case you missed it you can check her out at http://www.sad-world.com/germany/germany.htm

I'm doing some walk cycles and basic animation tests for the main character to test the rig and get my animation skills in shape for the final animation. I'll post some of the tests once I get them rendered and compressed.

Anyway, thanks for any comments you may have. I'll put more up as I get more done. Hopefully, this project won't take but another couple months to wrap up (not counting rendering....)

I like. there is some weirdness going on under the arm there in that one shot, but I am sure I am just being picky.

Hey, thanks for the replies everyone.

Here are the test animations I promised. Nothing fancy, just a few rough walk cycles (hey, go easy, I'm pretty inexperienced at character animation... too much time in modeler, not enough time in Layout).

These are encoded with Divx.

Looks good...

Maybe a little more rotation in the hips as she walks?? Women have much more rotation on Y axis in the pelvis causing thier rears to sway and catch our attention...:)

Yeah, the hips could rotate some more. I just used trial and error to figure out how much they should rotate. At first they rotated way too much but now I think her movement is a little stiff.

It's tough to get just right. I'm trying to get her movement as organic as possible but if there's any stiffness left over I can always say it's because she's a robot... hehe... I know, that's lame, but what the hell.

there is a pdf tutorial of anisotropy (good for making specular reflections on metal act like metal.

i think adding this small and simple detail to all of your metal surfaces would make a world of difference.

jeremyhardin,
Hey, great link. The metal surfaces I have on my scene now are just slightly modified Lightwave presets. I'll try to wrap my mind around the whole concept of anisotropy and apply it to my surfaces. I don't really want this project to be photoreal but I definately want it to look cool.

Gabe you've been working on this for awhile now :-) Time for a wrap man :-)

LOL! hey, cut me some slack man! I'm doing this all on my own and working it around my day job (I'm a cashier), and my wife and daughter insist on getting some time with me! I'm done with the models and sets, so hopefully, the animation part will go a little quicker (but I doubt it).

haha just teasing, but I was dredging back through the WIP archives and I was surprised to find your thread was on the very last page, second from the bottom. Well that was until I reserected it :-)

Looking forward to seeing the final product.

She also looks like she has something in her metalic panties, it's not so much a stiffness but almost like one walks when they just dumped in there pants.

No what I mean?

Yeah, that just a rough walk cycle I threw together to put the rig through it's paces. Hopefully, I'll be able to do a bit better for the end product. Animation is my weak point though so we'll see...
