Whats the best way to model planks on a deck are at a 45 degree angle? I tried making one plank then using Array tool then using the knife tool to cut to fit the size of the deck but I'm left with no faces on end. Its a pain to make polygons on every end of each plank. Should I make the floor one big square then texture map the planks on it ? If I need top explain more let me know.
Thanks in advance!!!

One way is:
1.layer 2:make the shape of the deck as one poly
2.layer 1:make your planks as flat polys too
3.with layer 2 as bg and layer 1 as fg Drill (shift + r) ->Stencil, give your planks a surface name and delete non-plank polys.
4.extrude plank polys

hope this is what you are looking for...

Brtk, how did you make the planks in that nice pattern? Did you just make careful use of "Mirror"?

hi mattclary

I just made a rectangle, rotated 45deg, cloned using trial and error until I was satisfied with distance between the palnks and then mirrored couple of times...
