would i see any difference in a dual Geforce 7800 in SLI.
Im also learning and will use LW and Digital Fusion.
Most work in my area is SD, but Ive been told that most will
be going to HDV and HD.
Local, PBS(is only 4 blocks from my house),and collage channel, are aready in HD.
Ive always had Intel systems, but I am impressed with the Nforce4 SLI x16 Pro
chipset. But Ive red some very ugly reviews on Tyan boards.
So, Im I better to stick with supermicro boards and wait for Dualcore Xeon's.
But what about SLI and VT??

any help here guys,
thanks,
shane

For the VT itself, you wouldn't see any difference by running dual graphics boards in SLI versus a good normal board like an nVidia 6600.

The VT[4] 4.5 doesn't use the GPU for any of its actual processing.

Note that VT[4] 4.5 doesn't support HDV or HD, it is an SD-only device.

I've used the Tyan 2895 motherboard in a number of VT systems, and they've always been great for us, though as Scorpio says there's no reason to go with dual video cards. The nForce4-Pro chipset rocks for VT, dead stable and very fast. I will say that going with SLI cards won't HURT anything, but it's money that could very well be put into other areas of the system.

Side note: the last 2895 system I sent out for VT was running dual-core Opteron processors and SLI-linked Quadro cards... it was SLAMMIN'... but then, so was the price... :)
