Anyone know how to rail clone a chain or some other way ?
I want to make a necklace with all the little links
I have tried rail cloning it ,but no luck.

Hi Mike,

Measure the inside diameter of the link, and in the clone, (note: not rail clone!), dialogue set this as your offset along whichever axis you are working to. Set the rotation to 90 degrees pitch, (and of course the number of clones you want), and away you go.

This of course gives you a straight length of chain, which you will have to bend, probably in layout using bones.

There isn't a way to do it using rail clone, since you cannot rotate the links.

Hope this helps.

This Modeler plugin is good for necklaces, it'll bend a straight chain around a curve, select 2 points to define the object axis, select the remaining points, run C-Bend;
