Hi everybody
I have a problem with my scene, now im using Fprime to render it out, but
the problem is its taking too long to get to the high resolution that i want.
Now in my scene is my shark object along with the ocean object.
In Fprime i have set the back ground radiosity to 400 % so that the shark is
properly illuminated.
Problem comes when i try to render, i did a test render yesterday and after
4 hours the resolution still wasnt crisp. Now i know that radiosity takes time
to calculate, But i was wondering if there was a way of achieving the
radiosity look of my big fish swimming without waiting days ? Any sort of help
on this would be great

Ambient occlusion, but that doesn't work with Fprime. You could also try using Lightwave's own Interpolated mode.
Also, what do you mean by not crisp? Is it noisy? Is there aliasing? You might want to tweak the light quality setting in Fprime.

Hi
what i mean is that all the lighting is exactly how i want it, when i render
the sequence using Fprime because the scene has alot of polygons
Fprime takes a while to calculate the raiosity and make it sharp over 300
frames so i waited about 4 hours and the quality or sharpness of the images
werent great,
I suppose the only thing i could do is wait until they were how i wanted
thanks

it's too long to render a shark and sea .....
a tips , is to use background radiosity ( faster than montecarlo)...
Do you use area lights with shadows ?
or ... how much polygon for the shark ? how much for the sea ?
I can help you, post your scene, I will make it lighter for you.
maybe you use too much subdived sea, maybe transparency with high raytrace and refraction value and caustic parameters...

Hi
in my scene my sea object is 663552 polygons and my shark is 60304
polygons.
I have 1 light in the scene which is a distant light set to 150 % and is
set to raytrace shadows.
Im using Frime's Background Radiosity set to 400 %
In my rendering panel all options are on Raytraced Shadows, Transparency
Reflections and Refraction
Hope you can Help
Thanks

1)change the raytrace bounce level in render option
by default the value is 16 ... put 2 or 3...
2) your sea have too much polygon !!! I suppose you subdivided your sea to make waves ....
-Do it this way : try to use one big polygon subdivided 2 times and a crumple bump mapping ...
If you don't like the effect and want to use displacement:
here is a file ( it's just a quick setup to show you how to subdivide and use displacement)
as you can see , the trick is to use more polygons in front of camera and less in the background.
3) try to check and uncheck extra-raytrace-optimisation button
First!Try to setup your scene without raytrace.
If it's ok , press F9 !!
here is some link to show you how to setup water:

here is my file (the null control the displacement)
