I've got to start a tvc next week with lots of collison detection involved. Every time I've used Lightwave's dynamics I've found it to be very glitchy, so I've been using Realflow for the collisons which has worked really well. The amount involved in this new job is going to make it very painful to do through Realflow.

Has anyone tried out Impact3?

Is it any good?

Is it an easy learning curve?

Impact was the original dynamics plug-in for LightWave. I worked for Dynamic Realities back when Impact 2 was out, and nothing could touch it. I'm not sure what else is on the market nowadays, but as far as I know it's probably the best, if not one of the best, dynamics engines available for LW.

I vote for Impact when we talk Hardbody collisions.

I don't think there are any other hard body dynamic plugins ( apart from Realflow and the built in stuff). One thing I do like about Impact3 is the use of real physical units, ie densities of materials measured in kg not in percentages etc etc. I cannot profess to be an expert but it is relatively easy to set up for collision detection etc.

Thanks guys,

It looks like the way to go. I'll download the demo over the weekend & I'll let you know how I go with it.
