I put the following on the VTNT mail list and thought maybe I'd get a different set of readers here. Someone there suggested there is a place in DVD WS2 to prevent RE encoding since it is already an MPG-2 file. Following is the copied/pasted message:

I have a project that is 1Hr,18Mins. long. TMPGEnc took 2 Hrs, 2Mins to encode it and now DVD WS2 in on the "Converting Video" phase and has taken 5½ minutes to go from 18% to 20 %. My machine is a Dual Xeon 2.6 with only 1 Gig of memory. Is memory use high on this or is it mostly processor speed?

The project is all RTV files with only two titles overlayed at two different points. Audio is all wave files as recorded initially during capture via Y/C. No more than half a dozen dissolves. Is there anything I can do to speed up this process? I hate to tie up my editing machine so long for this.

An update to the 18% to 20% - it is now at 1 Hr, 29 Mins and is only 32% complete. BTW, I am creating an ISO file - not burning.

It would seem something is not right. Can anyone help?

If the video is already encoded, you need to uncheck the box for the video that says "use template settings" or something like that. By unchecking that option it won't try to encode the video again.
