Each time I install Mimic 2.0 for LW in my PC running Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2, the installation runs differently; even with selecting the Lightwave 8 "root" folder. I had Mimic 2.0 installed and it just wasn't working right - none of the stock "bonus content" was lip-synching when I followed the tutorial. I reinstalled, with the Daz folder located in the LW Plugins folder, and did get the stock figures to animate by using the Alien.dmc config for ALL the figures. When I shut down my computer, I got an error message, and on re-booting another error message. I reinstalled Mimic 2.0 again, with the Daz folder located within LW's Plugins folder, downloaded the updated config files from Daz, and got the "blue screen of death" in the middle of viewing a lip-syching preview of the Gorilla in layout.

The Daz folder was installed in Lightwave's Plugins folder; three separate (and empty) folders were also created for Alien, Gorilla, and Victoria in the Content folder. I deleted those and everything seems to work OK now.

Has anyone else experienced any similar issues or had problems following installation with Mimic? Thanks for any insights or advice.

I recommend you go to Daz's web site and report this as a bug. Who knows maybe it has been fixed already.
If you can't find the link let me know.

Thanks. I contacted Daz via phone yesterday (Monday August 29), tech support was not in, so I e-mailed Daz. I am waiting for a reply.

What did the error messages say?

Error messages usually contain everything you need to track down a problem, without that information it's a pretty hard to determine.

Blue screen's are usually driver problems.

I remember when an older version of Zone Alarm firewall caused some blue screens, an update fixed that, normally a memory dump results.

When you do get an error it's helpful to type in a search engine to see if others have similiar problem, sometimes you'll find messageboard posts which may lead back to a solution.

Thanks for your reply. Daz support suggested I update my nVidia Quadro FX driver as a new driver was just released. I did that; so far, so good. Everything seems to be working better.

Thanks very much for the details in your reply; I will utilize them with future problems.
