jup...ive got sum suggestions :)
first thing that strikes me is that it looks too dark...
i can hardly make out the hills in front and also because of this
the texturing is hard too see. scale seems about right
as u said, its supposed to be a night scene but when on a planet
(with or without atmosphere) lightning still comes from all directions. (hence the sparkling stars).
try setting up a standard 3 point ligntning and fiddle a bitt with it.
(key light, fill light and back light)

ok, i'm working on my lightning now (much to read thanx) but what about the surface? any suggestions about filling that stuff? i made this with a displacement map, so don't see this in modeler... is there a way to 'bake' the new object and open it in modeler so i can add some stuff on the surface like rocks or buildings?
i'll upload new image as soon as render finishes :o

hey render finished :) here it is... maybe this is little to bright or not? and now we can actually SEE the surface, maybe some suggestions on how to make it look more realistic?? is there a method to randomly insert some rocks / other stuff on the surface?

hey fellow-dutchman!
ill keep it in english so other users can follow this also...
sure, you can save your transformed object with layout.
save it with a different name and now use this object as your landscape model.
you can see all the deformations 'embedded' in the object in modeler.
as for the random objects like rocks etc. you can use pointclone plus...

Check this link and you'll find a very nice tutorial on how to use these tools.
There is another site i cant recommend enough... with all the tutorials u need about lightwave.

anyways...your new render is allready much better because of lightning. i can see the texturing and deformations allot better now.
keep it up :)

p.s. i put the pyramid there just 'cause else it would be a little empty in my scene... i'm planning a more interresing building for the future!

I'd have to say, either lose it, or make it smaller and make many of them. It's too dominant, and the fact that its see-through doesn't help.
Just my thoughts

i will lose the pyramid as soon as i've got a more interresting building to put in place there ;)

I think just the opposite. Your original composition was more dramatic. This new one is boring.
