This is a return to my youth a bit - this ship has always been a firm favourate of mine - it looks mean and vicious and damned fast!

Here's as far as I have got after about 2 hours tonight - in between work and other stuff.

hi Fabio,

really like your ship :) but how does it stablelize (damn how do u write that?? my english sucks) this ship is certainly not modelled to fly in an atmosphere i guess... most of the detail in top and engine, but the middle part is quite flat, maybe a stablelizor or something works... anyway, a very nice ship... whenever I try to create one, all I get is nothing

greetz,
Smeaggie

why havent they marketed this as a cyber ball-point pen.
...hmm...they probably did...

nice and good modelling though :)
keep it up...

Cheers,

Looking good so far. I prefer the original Buck Rogers look and feel myself. Here is link to some reference pictures for the ship your modeling.

Did a bit more tonight - decided to go for the more blocky look of the horizontal outer wing as was common in the show - Going to animate them rear aerilons too ;):

Also finished off the preliminary Blurbs shape for the lower wing - freezing to come next and then stencilled details after optimisation :)

Heh. Yeah, I watched the show for Erin Gray too... sure wasn't for Gil Gerard's acting! :p

Maybe someone can finally answer one for me... how the heck did the tv series get away with having a character who had a penis for a head??

Fabio

ya know I often wondered if anyone else had noticed that! ;)

That's really nice so far Fabio, was wondering how high your poly-count is going because it looks nicely detailed. A shot wireframe maybe?

Just one question, how come you are doing it 'as a whole? I would of thought you could do one half and mirror it as it's pretty symmetrical.
Either way, I think it's looking really cool.

On the "other" topic, saw some pictures of Erin Gray as she is now, as older women go, still pretty fit! Of course, I am biased, (as my wife will testify ;) ).

I am building it on just one side - but now that one side is practically done I thought I would mirror it to show it off a bit ;)

As for Erin Gray - I wouldn't say no - even at her age - still pretty hot :) Between the fighter and here they were the only two reasons I used to tune in to watch that show when I were a lad! LOL

wireframes coming up soon...

Fabio

Someone asked for a wireframe - so here's what the wires look like right now. There's quite a lot of Polygons to come off that figure when I get round to cleaning these sections of the mesh up when it's completely finished.. :)

I LOVE that ship! Great work too! I modelled one of these (but never finished it) back in 1999 with LW5.5 - Its still around on my HDD somewhere too, if I recall. Maybe I should be inspired by yours to finish it one day?

Can't wait to see your model completed (and textured) looking hot! :)

Great Ship Guy ! All I can say is when are you starting the Draconia Marauder model. Would love to see that. I'm to busy and or lazy to do one myself,LOL . Very good work.

Finished my client work last night and was itching to get back to work on this ;)

Here's another 4 hours work - one of the more difficult things to do was suss out from the reference how the rear and underside "meshed" together - but I got it in the end - (thinks he maybe should have bought a model kit of this ship for better reference! ;))

here's the latest

Coming along nicely now :)

Just the cockpit inners to sort out - some minor tweaking all over the body (detailing) and then onto the texturing.

welp - finally managed to get some time to have a go at this mesh again tonight for a few hours - I've started work on the interior of the cockpit now - there's nothing really to go with here reference wise - so I'm sort of making it up as I go along at the moment :)

I'm in the rear bay at the moment about 40% finished in that area :)
