I seen some models that are modeled using the smooth shift.
And others using extender,
Is there a better way or does it have to do with preference?

I have found for myself that using the smooth shift method I can model model more quickly and make it look good, but if I need to model some from a picture or drawing then using extender slower but more accurate. this is for organic shapes like a head. Modeling geometric shapes it is smooth shift and bevel most of the time.

so I guess that when you come up with a design its better to use smooth shift but when you do organic modeling it's best to use extender. got it :)
Thanks for all your help and replying to my post

Smooth shift is as good for organics as the extender. See Userdelta's head modeling tut it makes great use of smooth shift. If I remember correctly, the entire model was made using only smooth shift, transform, drag, and spin quads. A word of advice, if you are using the extender that comes w/LW, DITCH IT then go to flay and download POZ extender.
