Frist time using the lightwave, as want to create a 4x4x4 cube with a 2x2 hole cut through it. There are no internal polygons. You may use no modeling primitives except box and point.
Anyone can help me out :help: :help:

Make a box, but also ensure that you have the numeric panel open so that you can dictate the size and number of segments easily. Make the box, then select the segments in the middle you wish to get rid of and delete them. If you want a tunnel through the box, select the appropriate polys on both sides of the box and use the Bridge tool to connect them.

Create a large and a small box in two layers, boolean subtract (large box in foreground, small box in background) the smaller form the larger one (make sure the smaller one extends beyond the "width" of the larger one).
merge points
select the top polygon and bevel to taste.

create a tunnel through the box,and select the appropriate polys on both sides of the box and use the Bridge tool to connect them. But I can't find the Bridge tool in my version 7.

no bridge tool do this;
highlite polys on opposite sides as mentioned above,
hit smooth shift (don't move anything)
from side view of highlited polys, hold ctrl key and hit stretch and stretch towards each other,
when they touch\, delete the highlited polys and do a merge points.

It sounds like this is a test for school or something.
If so you're a Cheater! :D you are supposed to figure this out yourself. That's the point.
OK well this is a perfect candidate for bevel. And the challenge is to use a limited tool set to create this, correct?
Looking at the image you have provided, to get that EXACT result one simple way is to do this.
Create a box, hit n for numeric make it 4X4X4 in the default "M" which is meters. Then make sure it is centered enter 0.0.0 just a good habit.
Then for the roof, select the top polygon and enteractively use the bevel tool. b on the keyboard, LMB up moves the roof up, LMB right to left makes it tapered.
You could also use taper constrain for this.
Then for the hole, you said their were so inside polygons so simply select too sides of the box - or is it one- anyway hit b for bevel and n for numeric. make sure evrything is at 0 exept inset which you can set to 100mm and you will have a 2x2x2 square inside the side of the 4x4x4 box, with the poly(s) still selected hit the delete key. Done.
Now if you are not even supposed to use the bevel tool there are other ways but as I said you need to figure this out. :) A hint would be copy points and the size tool, deleteing polygons and creating new ones with the copied/sized points. I hate school challenges!
Have fun :D

I want to expand on this as this is an extremely easy way to do this.
Before you select any polys, press F2 to center your object on the 0 axis.
After you smooth shift just a little, you can press the v key and enter a value to move the selected polys to the center axis(make sure you select the correct axis to make this work). Doing this you won't have problems trying to merge points. Once the polys are at center axis, delete the polys and press the m key to merge points.

Hey silk,
Listen I didn't coment on this one because I really do think it's for a school project and there are certain guidelines based on what he said in the initial post.
But since you brought it up again the bridge tool does this in fewer steps. All you have to do is select polys on either side of the object - as long as they have the same number of points and/or is the same number of polys.
You can smooth shift, extend or whatever to get geometry along the edge if you want, then click the bridge tool, done.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was for school, but they did not say one way or the other. And I do enough assuming as it is.
I just thought I would expand on Prospectors post, since he already told him how to do this.
Besides they said they had version 7, so the bridge tool is out unless they purchased the plug in, way back when. Otherwise, you would be right.

You're right, I totally missed that about v.7. Well then, about moving those polys to the center... :D

LOL, I miss read posts all the time. No big deal, I guess. :D
