View Full Version : Really weird audio problem or bug??

VT 4, Win 2000P,2 G ram, dual 2.4

.wav file and it plays garbled. Kill winrtme and it plays o.k. for a short while then becomes garbled again.

If you place a video clip above the now garbled playing .wav (voice over) file it plays o.k. But, if you remove the audio file from that video clip the .wav file will play garbled.

Any ideas??

Thanks

To further clarify what might have led to this problem,

The voice over was recorded in VT4. Needed to do some audio work on it in SF but SF could not open this file because it was 4 channel. So, to get it into SF I rendered it and then SF could open and play it just fine.

I think this problem can be recreated very easily by recording some audio in VT4 in either 2 channel or 4 channel, then render it and when you try to play back that rendered .wav file it will play garbled.

Hi John,
I have had on occasion similar issues. I made sure that Isaved the file in SF8 to 48k 16bit Stereo after converting from 32 bit FP( floating point). Hope that helps

Hmmm. I have the option of saving it 48K , 16 bit stereo, PCM file. Is it the pcm that is getting me?? Do not have the option of saving it in any other format from SF 7.

.wav file (voice over). Put it on the timeline and it will not play. Plays but it is garbled. Place a video clip above it and it plays perfectly.

I know how to make it work but I should not have to go thru such machinations.

Thought it had something to do with the .wav file per se but it happens with my background music files also.

Where do you publish bugs for VT??

Thanks

Further testing reveals the following:

In order to make the .wav file play properly the video clip must contain an audio track.

The video clip can be deleted leaving the audio clip and the .wav file plays fine.

But, if you mute that audio clip the .wav file will not play.

Weird. I think it is a bug.

Rendered the project to see if it would render and it did not. It rendered but playback was same as from timeline.

With this project unchanged I took an audio clip from a video clip in the file bin and placed it at the top of the clips and extended it for the entire length of the project knowing that the clip was not long enough.

This allowed the project to play perfectly.

I think it is a bug.

HI. We had a bug that if audio file was 8 bit, it could get garbled. This has been fixed in next patch.
Perhaps other settings could be weird too?

What Build are you using?
Is it VT[4] SP1?
