...and faster it is!! but at the moment it is also 10 times faster in crashing :( at least under OSX. but knowing the next limit team there will be a patch soon  so at the moment, no need to hurry...

After much testing last night *be me and the team* I/we can say that the LW bridge to MW is well.......useless and I'm not about to use it in our business, might be ok for hobby user's but sadly in the commerical professional market it's useless here

Issues for you

1. Diffuse

Colour/Bump/ work

Reg/spec/glos don't - and if you LOOK at the new guide MAX diffuse glos is not avalible, so why does the LW read/me say it is?

- use .bmp to use bump mapping

2. Plastic

Colour/ref/bump work just!!

Plastic is reflecting off the bat, to control this you need to use a 100 k (black) file/.bmp then use values in the .1 to 1 % range to control this...great

spec/glos don't work, even using textures at 10/20/30% etc etc etc

3. Dia materials

Unstable and have strange effects on colour, + odd black dot's rear there head

Crashes...I won't go there

I think maxwell is aimed a Studio Max and if you look at the new guide they have nice *working * control over the MW engine I don't think your going to get this in the near future, Worley can just about hook into the LW SDK and they know a thing or two about LW, so my guess is MW is great for MAX users, but...... Anyway I've yet to see any good work output from LW/MW to be honest LW can produce much better results as it is!!, so FINGERS crossed the LW plug/bridge will be much better in 6 months, but I think your find the effort will go into the max issues first

it seems to work fine execpt... one major thing, on a render I did, some random black points appeared... weird...

After spending an entire day testing comparative speed, materials, rendering etc., I came to the conclusion that this iteration of Maxwell is a big step backwards and not worth messing with...at least not through Lightwave anyway. I'm done with it until some major fixes are offered, not even worth playing with...unless you are into frustration as form of self amusement.

Yup, i agree. The Maxwell rendering engine works great, but the LW bridge just writes strange mxs files. Most of my modells, if they appear, are completly black. So just wait and see.......

Dont forget to triple your models ingo. Sometimes i forget and get black objects.
