Hello all,
I would like to post one of my last renderings concerning a tomb in the necropolis of Ostia (the ancient harbor of Rome) in front of Porta Romana,.
This model is 1400 polygons and it took about 5 minutes to render with Radiosity set to Backdrop 5x5 and antialiasing set to Low.
Hope you like it...

Best regards

Julius

Right now I find the brickwork a little distracting. Some of the bricks look very small although they're probably supposed to be that small. Maybe add a secondary texture on top to add a bit more "chaos".

There seems to be texture tiling on the large wall, but other than that, I like it.

Slight repeating pattern in brick. I find the red pilaster base distracting probably because it reads as pure color without any texture. Love the rest of the model.

Hello All,
thank you for your valuable feedback. As I work everytime with that texture, I am starting to be a little blind to these type of artifact. The feedback show that it is quite evident, anyway.
For the size of the bricks, I have added a picture reference. The Romans used, for the "cortina", a small type of brick that give to the monument the typical aspect of "ancient ruin".
For the tiling effect, I have added some white noise that should simulate the effect of the weather on the external surfaces.

Thank you and regards

Hello,
I have added 2 tombs to the Necropolis, and here the result. I have used more or less the same textures, with slightly different parameters.
It took 11 minutes to render, Antialiasing Low and Radiosity 5x5 Backdrop Only.
Best regards

Hello,
just wanted to post one of last rendering of the Necropolis, with the road and some people walking around. It is still a "work-in-progress", as I think that the terrain and the sky that need to be finalized, and the people need to be a bit more realistic. As I watch these images all the day along, I tend to filter mistakes and issues 8~ . I am sure the trained eye of artists of the forum would easily identify what needs urgent improvement....
Thank you and regards
