I am currently in Annecy Film Animation Festival, probably the major animation even in Europe Continent, with more than 5000 visitors from all countries.

I visisted the MIFA area, all expected companies are there : Alias, XSI, Discreet
and several others, with crowdy kiosks and demos.

I searched for anything LW related, ... nothing ?
Actually I saw a french visitor wearing a LW T-Shirt and I greeted him.

Dissapointed :(

Noooo! You were there, too? ****. Would have died too meet some international Wavers... I visited with my collegues from the filmakademie (about 50 people) and annie and boo, winner of one (minor) award was the diploma of one of our ex-collegues. Party that. :)

Anyway wasn't that AMAZING!!!! I have a hard time trying not to annoy people by getting crazy talking about the festival. I've seen some festivals around the world by now, but nothing comes near ANNECY. 1200 people screaming down the trailers alone the first time gave me goose bumps. Whereas none of my planes made it to the screen. Actually the worst throw was ending up about 4 rows behind me! *lol*
Kaze was running there, but unfortunately it was one of the (few) blocks i missed. The 'Lightwave' credit in Appleseed resulted in (friendly) punches and shoulder claps (incl. grins) from my fellows (it's not easy being almost the only waver here ;)) and the camping, partys, beach, music and realizing (through the help of recognizing the accredition bags you get) that the whole town was simply overrun by animation folks (students and pros) from all around the world was great! Whereas Bill Plympton was almost overrun by me. ;) No problem, got my 'Mondo Plympton' DVD signed and backed out - I think I'm too shy for this business. Whoa, and the movies - from the greatest **** to the tiniest sparkling diamonds. I'm happy that I didn't turn my catalogue into planes, so I can re-check which filmmakers I have to write emails to (to ask for dvds or jobs ;)).
Madagascar at the opening recieved what it deserved - applause and cheers almost throughout the film (though I don't like the fact, that Dreamworks often choses too much and too weakly selected film parodys) - I like to moveitmoveit!
Terkel in Trouble shoched me - saw it at the big theatre and the music parts alone rocked! The blood was dosed perfectly (ie a lot) and at the end it really became (more or less :)) scary and surprising. Fun!
Unfortunately during the closing ceremony they showed the newest pixar short - after one week and many great shorts it was a bit of a disappointment. Not the most original story but rather good animated. The cheering convinced me that Pixar can now do a fart - and the audience will go wild. On the other hand the conference with Dreamworks/Aardman was great regarding sarcasm. Peter Lords 'I remembered that we had a project on robots too, that we cancelled because of your project' pause... 'Good job.' :)
I had the time of my life - next year again (better: as long as I can afford it - the next 2 years as a student guaranteed).

LES LAPINS!

Greets.
