Please let me know what ya'll think (yes i'm from Texas).
i'm running a dual 1.25 gig G4 w/2 gigs of ram.
i'm not happy with the rendering speed, and i'm thinking of getting a new machine.

any thoughts on a REALLY SOLID WORKSTATION?

thanks all!

I'd say go with a pc, if it's to be a lightwave machine. A lot of the plugins are pc only, though that is changing, and I think PC is generally held to be more stable for Lightwave.

Decide for yourself what is best for rendering.

If you can wait a year you might not need to decided between the two since Apple is going over to the x86 platform. For the time being you could get a cheap PC to get you started, and then make your larger purchase later...

WOW! Are the AMD Opterons really that fast on some scenes? On certain catergories they seem to be WAY faster...hmmm

G5's were only up near the top a couple of times...
