and i cant because lightwave crashes...
i dont have masses of polys in the scene and i have tried everything i know of but no luck..
i have lowered the segment memory limit and still the same problem
i am running a dual xeon machine with 2 gigs of ram..
thanks for any advice..
cheers

Okay, you don't have masses of polygons, but do you have masses of images? Are you using 24/32-bit images for things like bumpmaps, etc.? You can save memory by changing those maps to 8-bit images since LightWave only needs 256 levels of grey for any kind of map other than a colour one. Have you got lots of reflection to do, or transparent surfaces? Are you trying for large multibounce radiosity renders? What format are you saving to? Are you rendering in LW after a lot of use that might back up the buffers? Have you tried the LWSNC tool from DSTorm to render using Screamernet on a single machine? You see, there are loads of questions to be answered so it's back to you now Neil... :)

hey thanks for the reply...
Only 2 image maps are used total in size around 100k...
Not radioisty , just minor transparency..
am not rendering to an image format at all.. no options are selected..
even rendering selected objects in selected passes crashes the machine...
i dont wanna use any network renders because i only have one machine..
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
thanks anyway

What do you mean "no image format"? A 6000 x 3000 image takes a lot of memory, even if it's empty, so your best bet is to:
1. Save the scene making sure you have set an output image file
2. Reboot your machine
3. Make the first thing you do when rebooted to load LightWave
4. Make the first thing you do when LightWave is loaded to load the scene
5. Make the first thing you do when the scene is loaded press F10.
Best of all, don't load LightWave at all. Use the LWSNController plug-in from DStorm (http://www.dstorm.co.jp/english/plugin/other.htm) to load the scene and render it without the overhead of LightWave.
