Very sweet, let me guess the kitchen HDR world map? the light blue light needs to have more effect on the wood. put a point in the powermate, then set the blue light surface's translucency to about 80% and turn radiosity on, and u should get a nice light coming of it.

actually i was trying to avoid radiosity if at all possible. current render time is about 8m/f while with radiosity it jumps to 4 hours :(
maybe I'll just fake the blue illumination with a blue point light right under the floor...

Epp that seems very high, what system are you on? i think you should be able to get that down without to much loss.
All of the frames in my movie trailer to less than 5mins :=

I have one of these on my desks, and while it's very good at this point, it needs a bit of work:
1) squash it about 80%. It's too tall.
2) the light is blue, not turquoise
3) the light comes from two leds opposite each other about 1/2" from the sides. this means that the light is not even across the edges. Instead, it's brighter in two places opposite each other, and less as you get further from the leds
4) "GRIFFIN TECHNOLOGY" can be seen etched into the side opposite the wire. Gunk always gathers there, so make it a bit darker than the surrounding metal.
edit: I just noticed something else:
The wire (at least on mine) is kinda see-through, that is, you can see the metal interference shield. Also, where the wire meets the powermate, there's a little plastic thing that's hard do describe. Look for some photos over at spymac, or press photos at griffin to see what I'm talking about.
akk, one more thing: how did you make the table? The texture is great.

maybe you've got a different version than me? I measured off of mine @ home.... :)

Yeah I know. I still can't get that to look right. Gotta tweak it more

I kind of "beautified" the effect. I'm actually kind of bugged by the fact that my "real" powermate is "lopsided"

I originally had a bump-map for this but didn't really like the way it looked. I'm contemplating actually modelling the text...

I plan on trying to scan in the cord and create a seamless image map for the shielding...

Well other than the fact that it's supposed to be a floor :( ... It's just layered image maps, color, bump, gloss
I did model one of the "cracks" down the middle with just a little ---v------- just because it was very prominent.

no... you're right, I'm looking at mine from a different angle, it makes it look smaller

Oh, I thought it was a table because my floors are never that clean, though my tables sometimes are (well, maybe.) Are those image maps photos or did you make them?

the image map is from the newtek "member freebies" section. I tweaked them a little but not much. I think the particular image is fence 2.

The powermate is totally cool. you can program it to do just about anything. you can program each motion (turn left, turn right, click, click-turn left, click-turn right) on a per application basis. So for example I've got the left & right turns programmed to zoom in & out in lightwave. click-turn is programmed to scrub thru the timeline and click is render...
for $50 it's probably the most useful thing peripheral i've ever gotten
