Finally finished.
Trees and bushes from Onyx.
HD Instanced used for instancing the trees and bushes
2 lights, one sun positioned with SunSpot, one up for fill.
Interpolated radiosity 1 bounce
Final size: 3600x2400
Slight editing for color in PS and erasing background items I thought didn't look good at full resolution.

I like it, looks like a very pleasent place.

The erased background, (except the one at the top)... slightly distracts from the image.
Otherwise very realistic image.
Do you find a difference btwn. Monte Carlo and Interpolated when doing outdoor enviroments?

Thanks for the replies. I don't know the time difference between interpolated and MonteCarlo at this resolution...I feared MC would be prohibitive though and played with interpolated until I got a look that was close to my desired output.
It took about 30 hours to render on a 2.4GHz P4, 1GB RAM. Would have loved to have used FPrime for the final render but Instancing was more important than fine detail of lighting - so...
Really spoiled by FPrime - being able to stop the render midpoint - so some other work - and restart the rendering again - as it was, my machine was completely tied up during rendering - forcing me to work at the other computer in the my office. (waaaa) Shouldn't complain too much, my first render (in 5.6) at this resolution took over 5 days - without radiosity on a PI 200.
Here's a small version of the original rendering straight from LW.

I know that everyone is going to hate me for this, but you could split the render on http://www.respower.com Come on guys, it's been months since I've mention this. They have a plugin they made that will divide your scene into multiple pieces and send the pieces to individual nodes on the farm. Your scene took 30 hours which is 1800 minutes. Respower has 600 nodes. If you spread the image accros the entire farm, it would have taken 3 - 4 minutes to create the whole image. Cost would have been something like $50.00. Pass it on to the customer.

You're right on there. I'm so used to "cowboying" it - doing things alone...It never occurred to me. Thanks for "smacking me upside the head". I need these types of inputs to work smarter vice harder.
Appreciate it.

Hey, this is a great render. The only comment I have is the shadow direction. The shadows from the trees are radiating out from a central point. Shadows from the sun don't do this, but all keep the same angle/direction. Fix that up and you'll be sittin pretty!

That's interesting...used a distant light for the sun on this...perhaps it's the HDInstance plug-in...or just the zoom on the camera giving the appearance that the shadows are from a central point...I'll keep that in mind for the next project.
Thanks for the review and the time you spent

I think it's the camera zoom giving the illusion of incorrect shadows, but my eyes might decieve me I suppose.

Hmmmm, on closer inspection perhaps your right. Maybe its just the angle, its hard to tell, heh. If you were using a distant light it should be fine. Though iv never used HDInstance, so I dont know how that affects things.
Perhaps you could do a quick test render at a different angle, or perhaps change the light's angle a bit and see how that affects things.
Keep it up!
