This is an image of a boat some of you may have seen last year
on the old forum. It is rendered with radiosity.
Now the ship is nearly finished by the yard and
they don't know how to paint. So I made some different color
renders (quick without dirt for presentation).
If someone of you made also boat pictures please show your work. I am a naval designer and we are also working on mega yacht up to 100 m. This is an explorer boat for a large lake in
germany.

I'm a fan of the Green and orange, and the Orange and black. Cool, rugged ship design.

The orange is probably best for commercial work -- 'though personally I prefer the deep blue.
Will we get to see the mega-yacht sometime?:)
I like image 3,but I dont think the foward deck should be white?,should that also be planked .Also would like to see it more dirty it would help with the opinion. If I am alowed a second choice then it would be the orange!Nice ship though:D

Hi Jockomo,
nive boats you have there. You railings seams to be a bit large.
Normaly handrail is about diameter 42mm and inbetween are about diameter 20mm. I like the detailed modeling.
How long do you need to model such a boat. My boat was modeled in about 30 hours and it is very detailed. You can see
even the screws on manholes on closeups.

Good eye you have there Marcus, your probably right, the railings were just a guess. To be honest the plans I was given to model from could have been a little better. They didn't include alot of details like specific plans for the railings, doors, portholes, etc. so I had to guess at much of that. These were done over the course of about a week each, so I guess probably 40 or 50 hours for each boat. Much of that time was spent deciphering the blueprints though. Gotta love it when the client gives you half of the blueprints for a different boat and doesn't realise it, then ask you to just sort of merge the two together.
I really enjoyed working on these however, and got a crash course in naval design in the process. At least now I know the difference between starboard and port. :D

Hi Riki,
the first picture in this thread was an attempt to make
it nearly photo real. The 4 other pictures are only quick
illustrations to make color decision easy for customer.
