A little test of compositing. I put a silver christmas ball on my shoulder to have a correct illumination. Make a photo of my economic "lightprobe" and use it for radiosity. I create a low polygon shoulder and add an Area light for the shadow and nothing else. You can find a little animation at this link: http://www.goblinfx.com/images/spider.avi
(avi 1.5mb)
Thank you for viewing and comments :)

Very nice ! In a creepy way of course ;)

A couple of things though : during its first steps there is an IK "jump" on one of the forward legs, should be easy to fix.

The compositing is pretty good overall but I have a feeling something's a bit wrong with the lighting, it doesn't feel contrasted enough imho. When going up your back the spider should be more in shadows (projected by your shoulder), and come into the light when reaching it.

Phil, out to lunch.

V Nice only point, i think the spider cast the right amount of shadow but it is to bright the shadow on the right side of the spider should be more.

DUDE!!! That's just freakin disturbing! I freakin hate spiders!

I have to agree with Dave, it's an amazing job, but it should be more shadowed on the right side.

Such a simple idea, a spider on ur shoulder!

It looks really funny, dont know why, but it made me laugh!
I think its the way you seem so oblivious to the huge great bloody thing on your back!

Just about to download the animation! True about the darkness of the shadows and the whole spider being that touch too light!

Im so impressed though!
Good job
