In the video tutorial Layers 101: LightWave Layers Overview (ftp://ftp.newtek.com/pub/LightWave/Tutorials/Vidz/Layers_small.mov) , the demonstrator parents an object by dragging the layer into another layer from within the layers window. However, I cannot get this functionality to work.

I am able to double click the layer and choose a parent, but it still doesn't give the indication that it then has a parent. By "indication" I mean an indentation indicating that it is then a child of that layer.

Can anyone explain this? Have I missed something or was this a feature taken out of 8.2

specs: 3.0 ghz processor, 1gb ram, lightwave 8.2

Thanks in advance.

I figured out that their are two modes for the "Layers" window.

list
hierarchy

After switching to hierarchy mode, I was able to see the parenting and drap my relationships.
