I've been working on this one for a while. I just managed to finish a logo for the SpaceJet, but I'm unsure how much more to do with it. I'm going to make a demo reel with this thing in a commercial. So if you can take a look and let me know how it is looking and give some feedback that would be grrrreat! (Sorry Tony).
Any suggestions for additions will be greatfully accepted. (I like brutal honesty).
Everything can be found here http://216.232.120.141/Spacejet/index.html
Thanks.

great work dude, I like the detail.
one comment, you might rethink the landing gear. structural members like the bars of your landing gear are much easier to bend then to streach or crush so you should design your gear so the weight of the structure is supported by something more verticle. you might simply add a piston.

who makes it volkswagen?
Just as a detail you might add two grav-disc uner the car. but that is just my 2 cents. Other than that looks great George would be proud. :D

Ahhh the landing gear... what a quaint story. Until this morning, the wheel used to be about 1/4 of it's current size buy you couldn't make out what it was, so I made it bigger. BUT the bars, hmmmm, you're the first to mention it. I never really thought about how that was going to work other than I thought it would be to "typical" that when you weren't driving it that it just hovered. So the landing wheel came into the picture. It by no means is supposed to work in reality, but I do want to make people desire it.
Funny though, that VW was mentioned. I was doing some sketches and couldn't figure out what it was that was inpiring me. And it wasn't until I had finished the sketches that I noticed that there was an ad of a "new" beetle sitting on the desk next to me. Go figure.
One question though ... grav-disc? please explain.
Thanks.
Dude! It's cool! It's the uber-George Jetson mobile!
Other than the mesh doesn't hold up too well up close(you can see the facets) it's totally gnarly!

actually the mesh does. A couple of my renders were far away so I turned down the subpatch level. On one of the closeups on the back where you see the tail lights up close the subpatch level was set to 8 and it still was too small. The front headlight closeup has a subpatch of only 3 (I screwed up).
It's good to know that people notice these things. I was starting to think I was just getting anal.

(Gravitational Assist Disc) or (GAD) I guess you don't have them here yet. It is the thingy under the car that cancels out the effect of gravity so it can fly....... Yes I just made that up. No I don't like StarTrek. :p

Ah yes... the "inertial dampeners". I have to say, those things don't work on this version. I tell ya, you put the petal to the metal you're going to be smiling for a few days and you'll have to pick your ears up off the floor.
I'm going to try to put together a commercial for this in the next couple of days or so. Do you think it's ready to go for one of those "up scale" kind of commercials or gen-x/y... the question remains, how to market the "damn I really need that".

Hey I'm curious about why nobody has mentioned anything about the steering wheel. I thought I would have thrown someone for a loop.

well seeing how it is balancing on one wheel and is powered by two really big jets I think the stearing would the least of it's problems. I am joking you know that right?

Wow, no one ever said that I have two big jets before. My wife doesn't even say that to me. =)
When I started this I had it in mind that it was going to be piloted by someone like this... http://www.spacemanzot.com. I figured a quasi-realistic hero that has become Fabmedia Studios' mascot, would need a cool looking vehicle. And since I'm pretty bent, I started to think of all of the cool retro 50's and 60's space material. The Jetsons, Flash Gordon, etc., and I started to piece together something that was Spaceman Zot like.
It's been a fun time and a long learning curve with Lightwave. I was used to Infini-D and even then only in a rudementry way.
I just thought of another project to start on. I really do think that this is deserving of a commercial. I'll sketch it out and post it. But here it is... the Fabmedia Studios' DVD Rewinder. You know, it'll save you time not having to rewind those damn things by hand!!
