Hello:
SpeedRazor question

I need to play 3 video layers (or more) with REAL TIME FX and composition (alpha channel) in Speed Razor using VToaster board.

I use SpeedRazor to batch capture edit list (*.edl) and to retouch video clips with color correction and so on...

With Pinnacle board I can play some FX in RTime.

Which system (min specs) its necessary to obtain same RT performance?

Tks in advance and best regards

A dual-Xeon Supermicro board and 4 U160 SCSI drives striped at RAID Level 0 will exceed 3 Layers. Look for other posts regarding Motherboards, etc. and you'll find further elaboration/reports regarding hardware and performance.

Actually, all real-time versions of Speed Razor hook into proprietary video chips on Pinnacle, DPS, Matrox and other hardware cards.

VT, however, is a software-only system, and as such, SR 4.8 is not real-time. A faster machine will yield faster renders, sometimes faster than real-time, but they still need to render.

Most people are opting for dual processor motherboards (Xeon and Athlon) although encouraging results are coming with the newest generation of single processors. A gig of RAM is pretty standard, the faster the better. The real key is hard drive speed. A stripped set or raid thats getting a sustained 80 mbs or better will give you plenty of headroom for 3+ layers in realtime. I'm getting about 4 to 7 depending on the amount of blur/color correction/slowmotion. Some of the ultra320 SCSI systems are doing 250 mbs, I'm not sure that I could build a project complex enough to tax that set.
VT3 will allow you to do batch captures. And finally, ALL of the VT effects, including ALL transitions, blur, color correction and Picture in Picture (including 3D perspective rotation and soft borders) are REALTIME.

SpeedRazor2000X work RTime in VT?

This is my "future" machine:

Iwill DP533 -S
or
Supermicro X5DA8
or
Intel SE7505VB2

P4 DUAL INTEL XEON 2.8 GHz (533MHz FSB)
Unbuffered PC2100 1024MB DDR SDRAM
SVGA GeForce 4Mx Dual Head

Array SCSI JBOD 144Gb RAID0
or
MEDEA Video Raid 4/320RT SCSI 320 Gb
