Here is my problem.

We often shoot with our own cameras. 3 cameras that match.

On occasion I have to use a client's tape that is often 1 chip DV or Digital 8 and try to cut it into our footage.

What is the problem? Color

Often, the problem is red. However, I saw a demo of some software that would improve footage by applying various color filters....what was that? Oh, it was that grand old editor and a crazy program called ChromaFX. Though not perfect, the use of more "english" and less tech made more sense to me. I am not going to run this footage through my flyer unless I want to use those wacky red cycling bands.

The fact is when I tweak the CC tools, I am eyeballing the footage. Can we have the controls like the ones on a TV set? Or a skin like that? You know. Tint, color, etc etc. Black level

this being said I am making the argument for a set of filters that would help improve these situations. Other softare that serves this function is vixen. I think that it is a SR plugin and I don't have it installed even though I am a registered user. The demo is pretty good.

I have seen this on FCP also. I have seen hammered footage come out looking passible, which I originally thought was impossible.

any thoughts?

Color-matching between clips would be a great tool in the suite, Kurt! Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't know if it's possible (but if you asked me a few years ago something like the VT2 was not possible) How about if you could get 2 cameras to shoot the same object, then in VT3 tell it the adjust the color based on the two matching elements automatically. Color matching has always been one of those hard to master things and if the VT3 could get you 99% there that would be great!!

A while back I posted in feature requests about a "white balance" feature in FCP.
Apparently you can white balance in post by telling the software what white is in an scene, then the software 'balances' the rest of the scene.
Not sure how well this works, but it sounds like something that would be really nice!

Just for fun I'd like to post a screen shot of the different feeds and see if anyonje has any bright ideas on proc amp setting.

I am at the ranch now and the files are at work. what is the scoop files sizes for attachmnets?

I'm wondering if the new "Auto Calibrate" in VT3 can be manipulated to accomplish this?

This is the problem. It is camera 4. All other three cameras are close enough that I can tweak a little and get the color to look very nice.

Cam 4 is kicking my *****. Anyone have any ideas as what to do.

the camera was in the front row and has good close ups. AND the kid shot on a tripod. That was the tiny easter miracle.

This is also my first attempt at attaching a file.

We will see how it goes.

Believe me, a number of us have asked for this feature for a while now.

It frankly seems like every NLE but us has this feature. FCP, Canopus, ScreenPlay, etc. High-end to low-end have this in one way or another. Not to mention how many use three-wheel color correction, for highlights, mids and shadows. Believe me, this would also be very useful.

What I hear when I ask on these things is that these processes are protected by many patents, and there really aren't many other ways left to do it.

Would this do it for you.

All done in TED and you can download the settings here (http://www.silenceontourne.com/downloads/Kurt.zip)

Just unzip and then go to the color corection panel right click and choose load and go get the unzipped file.
Of course you might need to fine tune it a bit since I did this off of the jpg.

I hope this helps you out.
