Versioning would be nice

I liked how Softimage|3D would keep the 4 latest versions of a file when you save it (actually I think you can specify how many).
Personally I would rather have a larger database (not that much larger--models are typically pretty small considering each version would reference the same texture files) and be able to go back a few steps. Also it might be helpful to reduce the amount of Undo's to free up memory.

or you can just write undo information into a file and save it to a temp dir on hard disk, that'll achieve the same purpose.

That's multiple steps that I would rather not do. Just save "project_01" "project_02" and so on...that requires no additional input from the user.
