I bought a couple of these(vt4) after demo of previous vt3. Are there any new patches? In cg I have tried to build templates that have tab stops and a fixed number of lines, however, this keeps locking the machines up. Any templates I have tried to build do this. Secondly, how would i build and fit a compression effect of live inputs (cam or dvd bnc ends) into the upper right corner of picture? I can't remember if I used Aura or Light Wave, but when I tried to build a compression effect all I got was black with white flickering box into corner. Was it something wrong with my rendering or what?
I can't believe no has had that many problems with the cg. I've locked the machine up within 5 minutes of using it everytime. It does have the service patch already.
Sorry, I am not a tech just operator. I havn't had time to mess with it for about a month, so i can't be more detail specific.
They are unusable at the present. I have them for a live show.
Thanx.

Are your machines dealer built? If not, you may have some other things going on. If so, I would involve your dealer to get things straightened out.
There have been some difficulties using the CG, but they are fairly well documented here. you can do a search for CG and read all about it. There are workarounds and things you should not do to avoid the CG crashes and lockups.
AFAIK, there have been no recent improvements to the CG code. It has been mostly driver issues that have been addressed recently.
Many are using outboard programs for CG such as Aura, Mirage or Photoshop for the time being. I'm sure others will chime in here to comment.
We'll see what NAB brings.............

I did found the other posts. I wasn't sure if they were reporting the same thing. It didn't sound exactly like it though.
I had considered using a different program for graphics but wanted to find out if there was anything new first. I have a few people(fill ins) that need to be able to handle these machines only a few times a month, and i can't expect them to be able to get through all the workarounds. I am trying to simplify the program for them. Are there any other recomendations for cg programs that will work with the vt4 switcher. I have more than one vt4. One of them was to be used mainly just for graphics.
I am still trying to figure out if the machines will do a compression effect. Putting a box into a corner of screen for 30secs or so and then bringing said box back to fullscreen. Is there a bug. I havn't been able to do it in lightwave or aura.
Am relying on an mx50 to do that right now. Hate that thing. It messes up my genlock.
thnx for reply.
ps They are dealer built.
