Hi Fellow Wavers. Im determined to get this stargate kawoosh cracked. Im using endomorphs to make it work. Im not much interested in the color or anything like that, just to get the animation side of it sorted.

Any advice or tips for doing this would be most welcome. Ive already managed to do it several times its the shape as it bubbles on its farthest extension thats eluding me, im using procedural textures for displacement, even tried jitter of the endomorph in modeler but still it does not look right.

Sorry no pics as its on the laptop for mobility,

As i said any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

Regards, John

I rememeber seeing a thread about this along time ago maybe on 3d garage. They talked to someone that actually did the effect for stargate and it was a pratical effect, where they shot some water elements at high speed. So maybe some real water might work better, might be faster, I don't know what your production needs are.

I was watching the Stargate Sg1 DVD's, on the extras in Season 3 or 4 it says that originally it was done as a comp shot with an airram or pump in water to create it. But he also said that someone showed him a way to do it in CG later on in the series and so they went with the CG version. It gave them more flexibility in setting up shots and they could slightly change it so they did not all look the same.
At the moment im using multiple endomorphs and displacement maps to achieve it, its just a matter of tweaking. It looks different when it comes out to when it goes back in. I wont be doing the reverse vortex (water down plughole) as seen in the film when the wormhole finally comes to rest, they cut that out of the series because it would require a larger set at the back.

Thanks for the reply, im really looking for someone to give me an idea i may not have had yet on how to achieve this,
